I was born in 1944 in the town of Southend, county of Essex, England. I started my first modeling session with an amateur group in Southend at the age of 19. Worked as an amateur model for a year and went under the name of Valerie James as a brunette. My first publication was on the front page of the "Reveille". I also appeared in other magazines such as "The Parade".
I then went professional at 20, where I was now a blonde and changed my name to Teri Martine. Now, you may have wondered how I arrived at this name, the long and the short of it; I was engaged to two young men, one by the name of Terry and the other was Martin, the latter being my first husband. I joined the Rosaleigh Anne Model Agency ran by Mr. Walker, who the girls nick-named, "Granny Walker", he liked the girls to sit on his lap but that was the extent of it.
After about 6 months I joined The June Palmer Agency. June and I became the best of friends and we worked together on a number of assignments. I became her number one model. My career really soared with June's agency. She belonged to the Denton-De-Gray Agency in London, which I also joined with as well. One of the assignments we worked together on was a promotional assignment. We started off at Victoria Station dressed as western bar maids, then after boarding the train we had to change into Indian Squaw outfits. My sandals that laced up the legs were about 3 sizes too big, so we both went bare foot. This was to promote "McKenna's Gold" and "Funny Girl", (two very popular movies) that were out at the time. We traveled and entertained Telly Savalas and Barbra Streisand, Telly kept patting my derriere and I was most put out over it, so I put him in his place. We did have a fun time but stayed on the train from Birmingham back to London, as we did not want to go to the big party.
I have appeared in many magazines all over the world, made lots of videos or "Super 8mm" movies as they were known as back then. My modeling career started in 1963 and in 2005 I am still modeling occasionally. I have also modeled with wigs on under the alias of Julie Nash and Cleo Kane. My career in the United Kingdom lasted about 6 years before I came to the United States in 1969 and I have made this my home ever since. I married for a second time to a G.I., who I met as a pen pal, while he was in Vietnam. We wrote each other for 3 years before I came to the United States. We divorced in 1985 but have two wonderful sons and three grandsons. Since 1985 I have had two dreams, one being to accomplish this vintage website and the other is writing a book on all my fond memories. So, when my second dream is accomplished, YOU, my fans will be the first to know.
